Newsletters and RSS Feed Distribution

Welcome back to our series on RSS and XML Feed syndication for newbie's. In this article, we are talking about the basics and in this article we are going to talk briefly about newsletters and RSS feed syndication. Typically the popular method of RSS Feed submission is on a website that acts as a directory for submitted RSS Feeds. While this is a superior system when compared to the email distribution variants, it can be difficult for webmasters to get visitors to his directory. One often employed method is by creating a newsletter to entice visitors to return to the directory website. While not a horrible idea, it does have some drawbacks in application. Some of them would be:

Newsletter creation is time consuming. It's not currently possible to automate the content of a web page into a readable and effective newsletter.

Some people refuse to sign up for newsletters. Not everyone wants to get a constant stream of new emails on a regular basis because they are already sick and tired of all of the other emails that they get clogging up their mailboxes.

Sending out the newsletter is time consuming in and of itself.

A lot of the emails that you do send while get trapped by a spam filter and the person you are sending the information to may likely never even see that you sent it.

It's hard to research previous newsletter content to find good niche information.

While we really think RSS Feed syndication is a great tool, just be away that distributing the feeds may not be an easy task. This is why we always heavily respect our feed directories that do a great job of syndicating information.

RSS Feeds - How to Promote Your Own RSS Feeds

RSS feeds are quickly becoming a powerful way to optimize SEO and attract new audiences to your business product or service. It is likely that you have more than one type of content that could be shared about your business through one of these feeds. Find out how to promote your own RSS feeds to increase exposure for you and your business.

So exactly what does the little symbol with the letters "RSS" mean? RSS stands for "really simple syndication" and RSS feeds are simply online news feeds. RSS feed symbols can be found on every blog and social media site across the web. They provide an effective way to spread your content to other people or websites. But these feeds are not just for social media anymore. This syndication tool is also creating a way for business owners to increase their visibility on the Internet.

RSS Feeds: How to Promote Your Business:

When you create feeds for your website or blog, you will need to promote them just like you would with any other web content you publish. The feeds should be promoted on your website or blog, within your social networks, in emails to your contact list, and in your forum discussion threads. Make sure you add an RSS feed icon to all pages on your website and link the icon to the URL of the feed so it can easily be added to feed readers. It is also tremendously beneficial to take the time to register your feeds with the major search engines, news aggregator, and feed directories.

Promoting your news feeds is similar to promoting your website, blog, or lead capture page. The titles of your news feeds can be optimized with the use of keywords and keyword phrases. Those same keywords and keyword phrases should be incorporated into the content of your feeds. By using feeds to syndicate your website content, you can increase the amount of inbound links to your site and gain an endless amount of targeted leads for your business.

Search engines like Google are certainly taking note of RSS feeds as well. Search engines notice regularly updated content and a feed helps bring your site to their attention. More and more feeds are coming up high on keyword search results lists and users may not even be aware they are reading a news feed. RSS is fast becoming the next big thing in search engine optimization (SEO).

How RSS Content Automation Can Help You Dominate the Search Engines

If you have not yet unleashed the full power of RSS for your website you need to read every word of this article carefully. I'm going to explain how you can use RSS to automate publishing content, build links and bring in traffic for you all on it's own. I've got something to admit.. I'm addicted to RSS! Let me show you why. Let's say we want to create a site on, dogs.

I can just go to Google alerts and start a news feed. (sign up for a Google account, go to manage account and find alerts) What this does is it will search the web for breaking news about "dogs" and will pull it into a news feed for you. It will take a little time for the feed to find news.

I use WordPress to publish with a plugin called "feedwordpress" to syndicate the news to my blogs. It's as easy as copy & paste, put the Google alert feed into feedwordpress and all of a sudden you have an instant site publishing breaking dog news. (Ok I know dog news isn't too exciting but it's just an example!) So we have an automated dog news website, but how are people going to find it? Again RSS allows you to automate much of the promotion of the website as well! Wordpress will have it's own RSS feed, of all the articles published on your site. We can take your RSS feed and plug it into a nice free site called twitterfeed.com You add your RSS feed into twitterfeed and have it update to ping.fm. Ping FM takes your updates and sends them out to a giant list of sites all across the internet.

Twitterfeed.com will send out between 1-5 updates on a schedule you set, that will automatically post updates of new news with links back to your site! Now you have a site that publishes it's own news and builds it's own links! How cool is that? As I'm writing this article I have 16 blogs, publishing news, posting to twitter, blogger WordPress, and more. All of it done automatically for me 24 hours a day. Wouldn't you like more time to do the things that matter in your life and business? Put RSS content automation to work for you!

What Are RSS Feeds?

Remember the old days where if you wanted to find out if someone had updated their site you had to go to the site and search for the new content that had been added? Remember how much time that used to take? Well not anymore thanks to RSS feeds. RSS feeds are like mini magazine subscriptions only online instead of offline, you are able to get updates on anybody's webpage you want whenever they add new content to it. "So what", you say. These RSS feeds are more powerful then just being able to get fast updates to someone's website content, they can also help you to build your presence online, but most people do it all wrong. I'm going to show you how to do it right.

How can you use RSS to build your business online?

RSS means really simple syndication, this means anyone can sign up for your material and when this happens it builds your credibility with the search engines. You will usually notice a orange icon at the top of a webpage indicating there is a RSS feed available for the site, if you click on it you will be able to see all of the archived content for the webpage for a given time frame. Most people do not understand the real power here. They will usually put their RSS icon way at the top in some little corner where no one will sign up to it. They may even let it hide at the bottom of their page where it surely will not get seen.

This is the wrong way to do it. Google for the most part loves RSS feeds; even more it likes a website that has a lot of subscriptions to theirs. Google will count these even better then they count bookmarking, because to a degree RSS feeds are like bookmarking a page but there is a little more work involved. Everyone who signs up to your RSS feed will be like a little vote pointing at your website, if you can just get a few hundred of these you should be able to come up search results pretty fast. There is no better way for the search engines to determine importance of a site better then real users saying and proving by their action that your website is indeed relevant.

Use RSS Feeds to get mass exposure:

You don't want to do this like everyone else and just see a little trickle of subscribers do you? That is all most website owners see. You have to put the icon prominently where people can see it. It should jump out at them when they are own your site. If people subscribe to your RSS feed they will be able to tell there friends and spread your content even more, this will lead to more traffic and business.

Do not underestimate the power of RSS feeds, make sure you are aggressive with your approach and display them where people will want to sign up. Even better make sure you create material that will be worth someone signing up.

Professional Link Building Services Build Links Using RSS Feeds

With the advent of personal blacking, RSS feeds have became popular among average citizens. RSS feeds are often used to keep abreast with the latest content in one's favorite websites - be it news, sports, movies or even something more unusual like extra terrestrial life. Professional Link building services have been utilizing rss feeds as part of a balanced link building campaign to achieve first page Google listings.

However, not many website owners know that RSS feeds can be used as a mechanism to gain links to your website, thereby increasing the search engine ranking of your site and thus indirectly driving traffic to it. How can you benefit from RSS feeds? The first step is to create an feed for the items in your website. But other people will post your feeds in their websites, blogs and social media accounts only if they find it interesting enough.

Also, there is another way in which you can use feeds to actively build back links to your site. In order to effectively use your feeds as a link building tool, you need to submit your RSS to as many aggregators as possible. There is a catch here, though. Going to individual aggregator sites and submitting your RSS feeds is an elaborate and tedious process and you may not want to take the focus away from your core business to do this.

So what is the solution? Get professional help. There are several professional link building services out there and outsourcing this task is one of the wisest decisions you can make in boosting traffic to your website. You can either choose a company that offers link building services or choose a freelancer who offers the service.

However, just getting professional link building services to submit feed to aggregator sites will only generate back links to your website and increase your search engine ranking. You need to do something more to make your users keep coming back to your website.

You need to ensure that there is dynamic content in your website and that it is frequently updated. Having a blog that is updated on a daily basis is a good way to have dynamic content. Make sure that the blog is hosted from your website. Other elements for which you can provide RSS feeds can be online demos of your latest products, videos of offers and promotions and even customer feedback on your products. Remember you need to keep all this content updated frequently. Also, give links to other parts of your website in all these dynamic content pages.

The key lesson is this: You do what you do best - that is, generate interesting content in your website about your products and services. Leave the traffic building to professionals. Professional link services can do a much better job of it than you can, for the simple reason that it is their business and they have more experience in doing it.
